Second Asian Studies Annual Conference

Venue: Chitwan, Nepal

Time: Feb. 1-2, 2020

In the beginning was nature!

Center for Advanced Studies in South Asia (CASSA) announces the 2ndAnnual Conference. The major theme of conference is related with Nature and Environment. The Center requests to send abstracts (500 words) in the following email address: cassa.arh@gmail.com

Preamble

We invite papers to discourse the present state of nature around us.  On the one hand, the environmental crises are impending and looming everywhere, and on the other hand, global leaders declaring the crises as fake news. In this context of dangers to the earth in general and deliberated disavowal of the dangers, constant discourses about climate change are imminent, dissemination of knowledge about plights of nature is overarchingly necessary. Truths of nature are commonplaces: loss and degradation are everywhere. Hoodwinking to such crises in the guise of developmental narratives is inviting disasters.

Discourse as retroactivity is a preamble to action. CASSA has organized a meet on the edge of the forest of Chitwan, a vital forest reserve of Nepal. It will be an ideal place to engage in academic discourse on nature and environment. We invite critical discussions, paper presentations, and art and performances.  We are open to cutting edge critical discourse and deconstructive arguments.
