Nepal Cultural Studies Seminar Workshop

The workshop was a continuation of symposiums on interdisciplinary Nepal Studies which is a part of Comparative South Asian Studies. The researchers from the universities in Nepal discussed on Nepali culture and its nuances from the point of view of Memory and Emotion. There were 16 papers presented under the supervision of Prof. Arun Gupto Bangladesh Studies: Memory, Emotion, Envisioning Nation Chittagong, Bangladesh (Sept-Oct, 2016). Prof. Arun Gupto with renowned Bangladeshi academic Prof. Manzoorul Islam conducted workshops in Chittagong on Bangladesh Studies which is a part of Comparative South Asian Studies. The methodological aspect of Bangladesh research is similar to Nepal Studies Seminar: In Conversation with Prof. Mahalakshmi Ramakrishnan (Center of Historical Studies, JNU, Oct 28, 2017, Patan Museum Courtyard, Lalitpur) Prof. Mahalakshmi delivered a talk on the Shakti pithas in South Asia. She discoursed on the vernacular and Vedic forms of worship of the power deities. The venue, one of the most artistic hubs of Lalitpur, created an air of art and contemplation. Dr. Milan Ratna Shakya was the expert commentator. The talk was followed by evening walk in the lanes of ancient city. It was a city festival week.
